BROWNSVILLE, Texas - No. 1 Missouri-Kansas City defeated No. 4 Seattle U in the second semifinal match of the WAC Tennis Tournament Saturday at the Brownsville Tennis Center. With the win, the Roos advance to the championship match on Sunday, where they will face NM State.
In doubles, UMKC's Amaury Navette and Uldis Gaismins beat John Stormans and Connor Leahy, 6-1 on court two and Andrey Smirnov and Vinh Pham clinched the point for the 'Roos defeating Michael Schoettler and Jeremiah Kalmus, 6-1.
In singles, WAC Player of the Year, UMKC's Airam Castellano picked up the win over Seattle U's Tanner Berkabile, 6-3, 6-1 on court one. Navette picked up the point with a win over Kalmus, 6-1, 6-3 on court six. Clinching the match for the 'Roos was Mike Psarros as he beat Matt Alderson, 6-3, 6-2 on court four.
