HOUSTON - Grand Canyon forward Grandy Glaze is the recipient of the 2016 Riley Wallace Award, given annually to the top transfer in Division I college basketball and announced at the CollegeInsider.com Awards Presentation.
The 6-foot-6 transfer from Saint Louis made a major impact with his new team, helping the Lopes to an historic 27-win season, which included the program's first-ever postseason wins. Glaze led the WAC in field goal percentage (59.6), ranked second in rebounding (8.8) and eighth in scoring (14.0). He recorded 14 double-doubles and was named WAC Player of the Week three times, the second-most among WAC players. The native of Toronto, Ontario, was named the Most Valuable Player of the inaugural Coach John McLendon Classic, which was part of the 2016 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
The award is named after Riley Wallace, the head coach at Hawai‘i from 1987-2007. During his career, he welcomed many transfers into the program which helped him to become the winningest coach in Hawai‘i history. Wallace guided Hawai‘i to nine postseason appearances, including a school-record streak of four straight from 2001-04. Prior to his arrival, the program had just one NCAA appearance and two trips to the NIT.
