SEATTLE U - No. 5 Utah Valley shut out fourth-seeded and host Seattle U in the first game of the WAC Tournament Thursday morning, 4-0.
After three scoreless innings, the Wolverines got on the board in the top of the fourth with back-to-back homers by Brittney Vansway and Brianna Gatlin to take a 3-0 lead. Utah Valley added another run in the top of the sixth when Gatlin singled, driving in Vansway.
Bailey Moore earned the win in the circle to improve to 4-24 on the year. She scattered three hits over four innings. Starter Makayla Shadle combined with Moore for the shutout. Shadle allowed two hits with two strikeouts and three walks.
Alyssa Reuble suffered the loss, dropping to 6-12 on the season. She allowed three earned runs on six hits while striking out three.
