SEATTLE - Karysta Donisthorpe threw a career-high 13 strikeouts to lead No. 1 NM State to a 5-2 win over fifth-seeded Utah Valley in the third game of the WAC Tournament Thursday afternoon.
Trailing 5-0 in the seventh, UVU loaded the bases and drove home a pair of runs, but NM State's Kayla Green came on and escaped the jam to record the save and the win for the Aggies.
Donisthorpe, who allowed just three hits, struck out eight straight batters from the first through the fourth inning and improves to 12-8 with the win.
WAC Freshman of the Year Kelsey Horton was 2-for-4 and drove in two runs, while WAC Player of the Year Fiana Finau walked three times.
Utah Valley's Bailey Moore suffered the loss, dropping to 4-25 on the season.
