BERKELY, California - The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's tennis team's season came to an end on Friday as they fell 0-4 to the top-seeded California Golden Bears at Hellman Tennis Center.
The Vaqueros (11-11) fell behind early as they dropped the doubles point to the Golden Bears (20-1) who got wins on courts three and two.
In singles, the Golden Bears got wins on courts six, two and three to put the match away.
Senior Reegan Greenwood was up 5-2 in her match against seventh ranked Maegan Manasse on court one before it went unfinished. Freshman Dominique Ibarra was also giving the 88th ranked singles player Denise Starr fits on court four as they were tied at five in the first set when it was called.
The Golden Bears will next face UC Santa Barbara on Saturday with a chance to move on to Tulsa, Oklahoma for the next round of the NCAA Championships.
