MESA, Ariz. - Top-seed Seattle U held on following an early offense explosion to advance to the championship game for the second straight season with a 12-10 win over second-seed NM State on Saturday afternoon at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz.
After the Aggies scored once in the first and four times in the second to build a 5-0 lead, the Redhawks exploded for seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the fourth and added four more in teh third to hold an 11-5 lead just a third of the way into the game. The offense for both clubs slowed down a bit in the middle innings with NM State picking up a couple runs but still trailed.
The two teams each scored once in the seventh and the Aggies scored twice in the eighth to pull within two runs but it wasn't enough as the Redhawks took the 12-10 win.
Jake Prizina earned the win for Seattle U. Dalton Shalberg took the loss for NM State. Connor Moore earned the save for the Redhawks.
