DENVER - Two days after winning their first WAC baseball tournament title, the Utah Valley Wolverines are headed to Baton Rouge, La. for the NCAA regional, hosted by LSU.
The Wolverines, who are seeded fourth, will take on host LSU on Friday at 2 p.m. CT on ESPN3
Utah Valley went 4-0 in tournament play, defeating top-seed Seattle U in Saturday's title game, to advance to its first NCAA regional. WAC Tournament MVP Craig Brinkerhoff looks to lead the Wolverines offense into Alex Box Stadium, hitting .328 in 204 at-bats with nine doubles, three triples, 11 home runs and 36 RBIs. First Team All-WAC honoree Danny Beddes is the favorite to start the opener, bringing a 9-3 record with 96 strikeouts into the NCAA Regional.
LSU heads into the NCAA tournament holding a 42-18 record, with one of those losses coming at home against Sacramento State. The Tigers are led offensivel by Antoine Duplantis, who is hitting .340 on the years with seven doubles, five triples, two home runs and 36 RBIs. On the mound, Alex Lange went 7-3 with a 3.56 ERA in 15 appearances, striking out 107 and walking 45 in 98.2 innings pitched.
Joining UVU and LSU in Baton Rouge will be SE Lousiana and former WAC member Rice.
