NM STATE HEADED TO ALABAMA FOR NCAA REGIONAL

After winning a third straight Western Athletic Conference women's golf title, NM State learned its postseason fate. The Aggies are headed to Shoal Creek Golf and Country Club in Shoal Creek, Ala. for one of four NCAA Regionals on May 5-7.

Joining NM State at Shoal Creek will be top-seeded Alabama, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, California, Iowa State, Florida State, Tennessee, Missouri, Purdue, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Clemson, Michigan, Middle Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, Oakland and Alabamas State. The Aggies are seeded 15th for the 54 hole event.

NM STATE WINS THIRD STRAIGHT WAC WOMEN'S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP
Shooting an even-par 72, NM State sophomore Kennedie Montoya led the Aggies to a third-straight WAC Championship, winning the individual title on Sunday afternoon at Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club.

Montoya recorded a par on the 18th hole to clinch medalist honors by two strokes over teammate Viviana Macias and Dorsey Addicks of Seattle U. Macias had the shot of the day, recording a hole-in-one on the par-three third hole.

As a team, the Aggies finished 16-strokes ahead of second-place Seattle U. NM State was 20-over-par at 884, shooting just 3-over-par as a team over the final 36 holes. Seattle U shot a 36-over-par 900, followed by Utah Valley (912), Missouri-Kansas City (920), UT Rio Grande Valley (942), Chicago State (961) and CSU Bakersfield (974).

The 2015-16 All-WAC teams and individual awards were also announced. NM State's Jackie Booth was named Coach of the Year. UMKC's Cynthia Diaz was named Freshman of the year and Macias was named Player of the Year.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced last fall that University of Texas Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros women's golf head coach Risë Alexander has been named the 2016 Gladys Palmer Meritorious Service Award Recipient. Alexander was recognized with the WGCA's most prestigious honor on Dec. 8 at the WGCA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas.

COMING UP ACES
Utah Valley senior Kalea Heu dropped home the Wolverine's first hole-in-one in program history at the WSU Cougar Cup on the 138-yard par-3 16th hole at Palouse Ridge Golf Club. NM State senior Viviana Macias also recorded a hole-in-one, picking up the ace on the par-3 third hole in the third round of the WAC Championship at Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club.

2016 WAC CHAMPIONSHIP HEADS TO PACIFIC NORTHWEST
The 2016 WAC Women's Golf Championship will take place on April 22-24 at Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club in Blaine, Washington. Designed by Arnold Palmer, Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club is Washington's #7 public course as rated by Golfweek, 2012. This 7,005-yard tree-lined masterpiece allows golfers to relax and enjoy nature at its best. Among its golfing challenges are water in play on five holes and 67 strategically placed bunkers. The fairways are rolling and generous, with fast and challenging greens. Tee box placements adjust the degree of difficulty to make the course playable for golfers of all skill levels.
