NM State's Siakam Selected 27th by Raptors in NBA Draft

NEW YORK - NM State's Pascal Siakam was selected by the Toronto Raptors with the 27th pick of the 2016 NBA Draft Thursday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., becoming the first WAC player since 2010 and the 36th overall to be selected in the first round.

The unanimous WAC Player of the Year, Siakam was also named an honorable mention All-American, first team All-WAC, to the WAC All-Defensive Team, to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 6 first team and to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association of America (USBWA) All-District VIII team.

He led the nation with 27 double-doubles, ranked eighth nationally in rebounding (11.6) and 26th in scoring (20.3). Siakam was also named WAC Player of the Week an unprecedented five times this season.
