DENVER - Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Jeff Hurd today announced three staff promotions, effective July 1. Kristin Preble, who was previously Assistant Director of Championships and Marketing, and Chris Thompson, who was previously Assistant Director of Media Relations, are now Directors. Megan McDonald, who was previously Media Relations and WAC Digital Network Intern, is now Coordinator of Digital Network and Media Services.
“All three of these promotions are very well-deserved,†Hurd said. “Kristin, Chris and Megan are all keys to the success and advancement of the WAC.â€
Preble, who joined the WAC staff in February of 2015, oversees all championships and marketing for the conference. She came to the WAC after serving as the Compliance and Championships Coordinator at The Ivy League. Prior to that, Preble was a business and compliance intern at the WAC as well as an intern with the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA). A four-year soccer student-athlete, Preble graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in sport management from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
Thompson, who joined the WAC staff in October of 2014, is the primary media relations contact for men's soccer, women's basketball, baseball, and men's and women's golf. He graduated from Central Washington University with a bachelor's degree in public relations and also holds a master's degree in sports administration and leadership from WAC-member Seattle University.
McDonald joined the WAC staff in August of 2015 after serving as a production associate for ABC NewsOne in New York. She spent 2015-16 as host of The Rewind and The Lineup on the WAC Digital Network, and was the sideline reporter at numerous WAC Championships. She was also the WAC's media relations contact for men's and women's cross country, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's track and field. McDonald earned a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communications from Iowa State University, where she was a gymnast for the Cyclones.
