NORMAN, Okla. - Four men's golfers from the WAC have been named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America scholars, joining 215 other NCAA Division I honorees.
Missouri-Kansas City's
Antoine Rozner and
Thibault Vieilledent and Seattle U's
Ross Kukula and
Patrick Sato earned honors.
All four golfers were major contributors for their teams this past season. Rozner, the two-time defending WAC Golfer of the Year, won medalist honors at the 2016 WAC Championship and continued a strong postseason run that saw him earn a runner-up finish at the NCAA Regional in Stillwater, Okla. and an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore.
Kukula tied for third at the 2016 WAC Championship, shooting an even par 216 at Loomis Trail Golf Club in Blaine, Wash. Vieilledent tied for ninth with a 3-over-pay 219 while Sato also finished in the top-20, finishing in a tie for 16th place at 7-over-pay 223.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
