Three Named USTFCCCA Female All-Academic
NEW ORLEANS - A trio of women's track and field athletes from the WAC have been honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for academic success, earning All-Academic honors.

UMKC senior Kelsey Benoit, Utah Valley sophomore Savannah Berry and NM State freshman Kimberly Salinas were all honored. UMKC graduate and 2016 Olympian Courtney Frerichs was honored as Female Outdoor Track Scholar Athlete of the Year after competing at University of New Mexico for her final collegiate season.

Including the Scholar Athletes of the Year, a total of 910 women from 192 institutions earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2015-16 track & field season.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, the student athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
  • For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
  • For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
