DENVER - Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Jeff Hurd today announced that Eric Danner has been named the Executive Producer of the WAC Digital Network, where he will be responsible for all of the WAC's studio and event production.
“The WAC is very fortunate to have attracted someone as talented and experienced as Eric Danner,†Hurd said. “His outstanding work with the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference was one of his many attributes that was attractive to us. We're confident he'll hit the ground running and will continue to grow the WAC Digital Network.â€
Danner comes to the WAC from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, where he spent the last 11 years, most recently as Associate Commissioner. He oversaw all RMAC video content for the web, social media and television, and collaborated with member institutions to create feature stories about student-athletes, coaches, administrators and presidents. In 2010, he launched the RMAC You Tube channel, which has more views than any other Division II conference.
Danner was the Executive Producer of the RMAC Showcase, a monthly television show about the RMAC, which has aired more than 1,500 times on Altitude Sports Network and reaches more than six million households nationwide. He also served as the executive producer, host and editor of the RMAC podcast.
In addition to his media work, Danner served in many administrative capacities at the RMAC, including a stint as the Interim Commissioner in 2013, where he led the addition of new members South Dakota Mines and Westminster College. He also had oversight of numerous coach and administrative committees within the RMAC governance structure, was the chair and liaison for the RMAC Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet and Football Kickoff, and created and maintained record books for each of the 23 sports.
Prior to joining the RMAC, Danner was the Sports Director at KXRM (Fox) in Colorado Springs/Pueblo, Colo. He was also co-host of Double Coverage Sports on KKTV (CBS). Prior to that, Danner worked as a reporter and photographer for NBC affiliate KOAA and CBS affiliate KGWN in Cheyenne, Wyo.
A graduate of Metropolitan State College of Denver (now MSU-Denver), the Aurora, Colo., native begins his duties at the WAC on Sept. 6.
