WAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week Announced

DENVER - Utah Valley's Taylor Gordon has been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 26 through Jan. 1.

Gordon, a junior guard from Mount Pleasant, Utah (North Sanpete HS), put together a pair of 20-point games as the Wolverines went 2-0 on the week. Against Antelope Valley, the junior scored 23 points, brought down 11 rebounds, dished out six assists and finished with four steals. She followed that up with 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals in a New Year's Eve win over Dixie State. On the week, she averaged 22 points, 10 rebounds, 5.5 assists and three steals per game.

Other nominees included: CSU Bakersfield's Jazmyne Bartee had six blocks in a win against Cal Poly and is shooting .667 from the field this season … Grand Canyon's Brie Mobley averaged 16 points and nine rebounds per game as the Lopes split a pair of games in Hawai'i … UMKC's Samantha Waldron scored 27 points in a loss at La Salle … NM State's Gia Pack led the Aggies to a dominating win over Western New Mexico, finishing with 22 points and three steals … UT Rio Grande Valley's Mary Savoy scored 18 points in the third quarter against St. Thomas on her way to a career-high 28 points in the 63-56 win.
