WAC Tennis Players of the Week Announced

DENVER - Seattle U's Jeremiah Kalmus and New Mexico State's Rebecca Keijzerwaard has been named the Western Athletic Conference Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, for January 16-22.

Kalmus, a sophomore from Kenmore, Wash., went three for four against Montana State. He won his first singles match (6-2, 0-6, 6-0) before taking the win in singles again (4-6, 6-3, 6-0). He teamed up with partner Alex Chan for doubles where they won one of two matches (6-3).

Keijzerwaard, a freshman from Oudenhoorn, Netherlands went undefeted against UNLV and Weber State. She won both flight 3 singles matches, beating her opponent from Weber State (3-6, 6-2, 6-2) and was beating her opponent from UNLV when the match was stopped. She also teamed up with Vanessa Valdez, winning their doubles match against Weber State (7-6) and beating UNLV at the time the match was stopped.

Other male nominees: UTRGV's Clément Sarradin won one singles match (0-6, 7-5, 1-0 (12-10)) and one doubles match (6-4) against Oral Roberts… Grand Canyon's Francois Musitelli won one singles match (6-2, 6-2) and one doubles match (6-2) against Incarnate Word.

Other female nominees: Grand Canyon's Celina Buhr won her singles match (6-2, 6-2) and doubles match (6-3) against UC Irvine… Chicago State's Mariya Kostyuk won her singles match (6-2, 6-3) against Toledo… Seattle U's Michelle Lui won her singles match (6-2, 6-3) against Montana State… UTRGV's Anastasia Belyaeva won her singles match (6-4, 6-4) and doubles match (7-6 (10-5)).
