DENVER - Kansas City's Eric McWoods and Seattle U's Josh Adachi have been named Western Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for Sept. 25 - Oct. 1.
McWoods, a senior forward from St. Louis (Kirkwood HS/Xavier), put together the Roos' first hat trick since 2010, scoring all three goals in a 3-2 win over UT Rio Grande Valley on Friday night. He followed that up with the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over UIW on Sunday afternoon to lead Kansas City to a 2-0 start in conference play. His 16 points and seven goals this season lead the WAC.
Adachi, a redshirt junior from Pearl City, Hawai'i (Iolani' HS/Pacific), tallied two shutouts as Seattle U opened up the WAC season with a pair of wins at home. On Friday night against CSU Bakersfield, he didn't have to make a save as the Redhawk defense allowed just one shot in a 4-0 win. He had to do a little bit more work on Sunday, making three saves as the Redhawks held on for a 1-0 win over visiting San José State.
