DENVER - Kansas City sophomore outside hitter Alicia Harrington has been named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 2-8. This is her first-ever WAC Player of the Week honor.
The Cedar Falls, Iowa native led the Roos to a sweep of Chicago State last Friday, averaging 4.67 kills, 3.33 digs, 1.00 blocks, 0.67 service aces and a WAC-best 5.83 points. Harrington posted a match-high 14 kills on .300 hitting to go with 10 digs for her seventh double-double of the season. She also added three blocks and two service aces in the three-set victory. In WAC play, Harrington leads the league in points (4.29), ranks third in kills (3.65) and tied for ninth in digs (3.29).
Other nominees included: Haylee Roberts of CSU Bakersfield averaged 3.29 kills on .354 hitting and 0.71 blocks per set as the Roadrunners went 2-0 last week ... NM State's Kassandra Tohm averaged 5.12 kills on .384 hitting and 1.12 digs per set as the Aggies went 1-1 on the week ... Katarina Marinkovic of Seattle U averaged 2.75 kills, 2.25 digs and 0.75 blocks per set as the Redhawks went 1-1 on the week ... UT Rio Grande Valley's Ragni Steen Knudsen averaged 4.33 kills on .333 hitting and 1.89 digs per set as the Vaqueros went 1-1 on the week ... Madison Dennison of Utah Valley averaged 2.44 kills, 1.89 blocks and 1.22 digs per set as the Wolverines went 1-1 on the week.
