DENVER - New Mexico State's Enrique Asmar and Seattle U's Michelle Lui have been named the Western Athletic Conference Tennis Players of the Week, respectively, for Feb. 6-12.
Asmar, a sophomore from Barranquilla, Colombia went two for two in singles this weekend in Arlington, Texas. He defeated his opponent from UIW 6-3,6-1. He also won 6-0, 6-0 against UTA. Asmar teamed up with Sergi Espias in doubles to win 6-0 against UIW.
Lui, a junior from Bellevue, Wash., won her flight one singles match against Eastern Washington (6-3, 6-4). She also defeated Eastern Washington in flight one doubles (6-4) with partner Madison Maloney.
Other male nominees: Seattle U's Alex Chan picked up two singles wins against Portland State (6-3, 0-6, 7-6) and Linfield (4-6, 6-4, 6-2).
Other female nominees: New Mexico State's Rebecca Keijerwaard beat Houston in doubles (6-2) with partner Vanesa Valdez.
