DENVER- UMKC's Darrien Case and Richard Smith have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Feb. 13-20.
Case, a sophomore from Parkville, MO., finished fourth in the 600m at the Nebraska Tune-Up. His time of 1:20.80 ranks second in UMKC program history and moved him into the top-five all-time performers list.
Smith, a senior from Kansas City, MO., placed second in the triple jump at the Nebraska Tune-Up. He cleared 14.22 meters, beating his next closest competitor by 0.29 meters.
Other field nominees: GCU's Andrew Okonkwo placed eighth in the high jump at the NAU Tune Up with a mark of 2.00m, ranking third in the WAC.
