ON THE TEE
For the men, Chicago State opens up its spring schedule this weekend at the Florida A&M Invitational in Talahassee. Utah Valley visits the Phoenix area for the Loyola Intercollegiate in Goodyear while NM State will head west on I-10 to Tucson, Ariz. for the National Invitation Tournament. UMKC also opens up its spring schedule this weekend at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette while UT Rio Grande Valley heads along the Gulf of Mexico to Houston for the Colin Montgomerie Invitational.
On the women's side, a few teams get back at it this week after a week off from tournament action. UMKC opens up the spring portion of its schedule at the Rio Verde Collegiate in Rio Verde, Ariz. NM State will also be in Arizona, participating in Wisconsin's Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria. UT Rio Grande Valley rounds out the action, making the short trip to Corpus Christi for the Islander Invitational.
PLAYING FOR THE TROPHY
The 2017 WAC Women's Golf Championship heads to The Sunflower State as the conference champion will be named on April 21 at Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, Kan. Designed by A.W. Tillinghast in 1927, Indian Hills' Golf Course has played host to more than 50 USGA and State Amateur qualifying events. In 2001, the club proudly hosted the 53rd U.S. Girls' Junior Championship, the first USGA conducted championship held at any club in Kansas City in over 40 years.
The 2017 WAC Men's Golf Championship heads back to Arizona as the men will play for the trophy at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. The course first opened in 1997 and was redisgned in the fall of 2003. The redesign included a striking new clubhouse, expandad acreagae, revamped practice facility. The redesign improves upon perfection by lengthening the total yardage to 7,050 from the back tees and expanding the fairways to be enjoyable by players of all skill levels.
