HOUSTON - Three WAC records were set on Friday night at the 2017 WAC Women's and Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. Grand Canyon's Daniil Antipov broke a record set in 1997 by SMU's Lars Frolander with a time of 46.20 in the 100-yard butterfly. Seattle U's Blaise Wittenauer-Lee set a new WAC record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.52 after setting the WAC championship meet record earlier in the day in prelims. Grand Canyon's Mark Nikolaev set his second record of the meet with a time of 45.11 in the 100 backstroke.

The Northern Arizona women are looking for its fourth consecutive title and lead the meet with 462.5 points. Last year's defending champion on the men's side, Air Force, took its first lead in the meet with 526 points, overtaking Wyoming.

Action concludes Saturday at the CRWC Natatorium in Houston with the 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 backstroke, men's platform diving and the 400 freestyle relays. Prelims begin at 10:30 a.m. and the finals start at 6:00 p.m.
