DENVER - Chicago State's Jocindra Glee and Grand Canyon's Kayla Wilson have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Jan. 30- Feb. 5.
Glee, a junior from Orlando, Fla., finished first in the 400m at the Windy City Rumble with a time of 57.60 seconds. Her time is a season-best and ranks number one in the WAC. This was her first-ever win as a Chicago State Cougar.
Wilson, a senior from Mooreland, Okla., placed first in the long jump at the Air Force Academy team challenge, clearing 5.98m. Her mark is a personal best and ranks first in the WAC by 7.5 inches.
Other track nominees: Grand Canyon's Martina Cernochova set a new PR in the 60m at the Air Force Team Challenge… New Mexico State's Cristina Amberg set a new PR in the mile at the New Mexico Classic, ranking first in the WAC… CSUB's Falon Wilson set a new program record in the 60m hurdles and recorded a PR in the 60m at the Mountain T's Invitational… UMKC's Sarah Fogarty placed third in the mile, ranking second in the WAC, at the Herm Wilson Invitational.
Other field nominees: UMKC's Martana Stemmons placed fourth and set a new PR in the weight throw at the Herm Wilson Invitational… CSUB's Julianne Finch tied her own indoor program record and set the second best indoor and outdoor program mark in the pole vault at the Mountain T's Invitational… New Mexico State's Hannah Smith placed eighth in the triple jump at the New Mexico Classic, ranking second in the WAC.
