WAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER - Seattle U's Eli Boudouris and CSU Bakersfield's Nick Zandes have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for March 13-19.

Boudouris, a sophomore from Portland, Ore., placed sixth in the Steeplechase at the Lewis and Clark Spring Break Open with a time of 9:42.63. In just his first time competing in the event, his time ranks first in the WAC and 38th in the NCAA.

Zandes, a freshman from Bakersfield, Calif., placed second in the decathlon at the Northridge Invitational with 6,402 points. In his decathlon debut, his final score is the best in the WAC and ranks fifth in the NCAA.


Other Track Nominees: CSUB's Curt Threlkeld, won the 800m at the Northridge Invitational ranking best in the WAC… UMKC's Jamarice Preston finished eighth in the 200m at the ESU Spring Invitational… GCU's Ryan Girk finished second in the 100m and 200m at the Willie Williams Classic ranking first in the conference in both… UVU's Andre Jones finished second in the 400m hurdles with a time that ranks 31st in the NCAA.

Other Field Nominees: UTRGV's Antonio Salinas placed first in the shotput and second in the discus at the UIW Quadrangle Meet… UMKC's Blake Hocking won the shot put and discus at the ESU Spring Invitational ranking first in the WAC in both… GCU's Jesse Newman placed second in the javelin at the Willie Williams Classic with a WAC leading mark… Utah Valley's Blake Kvarfordt competed unattached at the UNLV Spring Invitational and won the discus.
