DENVER - The 2016-17 All-WAC teams have been named, following a vote of the WAC's eight head coaches. NM State's Moriah Mack headlines the awards, earning WAC Player of the Year honors. Seattle U's Kamira Sanders was named WAC Freshman of the Year and NM State's Mark Trakh won WAC Coach of the Year for the third straight season.

A 5-8 senior guard from San Antonio, Mack was in the top-10 in nine different statistics as the Aggies won their third consecutive WAC regular season title. She averaged 15.1 points per game on .500 shooting, also adding 3.1 assists per game and a WAC-high 2.2 steals per game. Her 1.8 assist-to-turnover ratio was best in the WAC and she gave NM State significant minutes, ranking fourth in the conference at 36.3 minutes per game.

Sanders was named WAC Freshman of the Year after posting a .494 field goal percentage in her first collegiate season, averaging 7.9 points per game. She also added 2.1 assists per game and 1.5 steals per game as the Redhawks, who were predicted seventh in the WAC preseason poll, earned the number two seed at the upcoming WAC Tournament in Las Vegas.

Trakh earned WAC Coach of the Year honors for the third straight season after leading the Aggies to the WAC regular season title with a perfect 14-0 record and a 22-6 record overall. NM State led the league in scoring offense (71.5), scoring margin (+13.7), field goal percentage (.446), three-point field goal percentage (.381), rebounding margin (+5.4) and three-pointers made (7.9).

Four schools are represented on the first team. Joining Mack is NMSU teammate Brooke Salas, Seattle U's Alexis Montgomery, UT Rio Grande Valley's Shawnte' Goff and Grand Canyon's Marina Laramie.

The All-WAC second team includes Grand Canyon's Brie Mobley, Utah Valley's Taylor Gordon, Seattle U's Kaylee Best, NM State's Tamera William and CSU Bakersfield's Jazmyne Bartee.

The All-Defensive team had representatives from four different schools as NM State's Mack and William were joined by CSU Bakersfield's Bartee, Seattle U's Montgomery and UT Rio Grande Valley's Goff.

The All-Newcomer Team is made up of Grand Canyon's Mobley and Laramie, CSU Bakersfield's Bartee and Aja Williams and Utah Valley's Sam Lubcke.
