LAS VEGAS - Utah Valley got hot when it mattered, pulling out an overtime victory over the CSU Bakersfield in the quarterfinal round of the 2017 WAC Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
The teams were as even could be in the first half, heading into the break tied at 28. CSU Bakersfield looked to be in control in the third quarter, holding UVU to a game-low 28.6% in the frame but the Wolverines bounced back in the the final quarter, holding the 'Runners without a field goal over the final 90 seconds and all of overtime to earn the 59-53 win.
Utah Valley was led by 22 points from Mariah Seals. Sam Lubcke scored 19 points and brought down 10 rebounds for the double-double. Taylor Gordon also earned a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
CSU Bakersfield was led by 21 points from Erika Williams, who scored her 1,000th career point in the loss. The 'Runners, among the top defensive teams in the WAC this season, finished with nine blocks in the game.
