INDIANAPOLIS - Carla Wilson, the Director of Athletics at UMKC, has been appointed as the WAC representative to the NCAA Division I Council.

“I am honored to be the WAC representative on the Division I Council,” Wilson said. "I look forward to reviewing and discussing issues that affect Division I institutions, and contributing to making decisions that are in the best interest of the student-athletes and institutions we serve.”

The Division I Council is a high-level group responsible for the day-to-day decision-making for Division I. Athletics directors, athletics administrators, senior women administrators, faculty athletics representatives and student-athletes serve on the Council. Every Division I conference is represented on the Council.

“Carla Wilson's selection by her peers to represent the Western Athletic Conference in the NCAA's primary decision-making body is a testament to her leadership and the regard in which she is held in the collegiate athletic community,” UMKC Chancellor Leo E. Morton said. “Carla's leadership has generated unprecedented levels of success for our athletic programs and our student-athletes, in competition, in the classroom and as successful alumni.”

Wilson's appointment begins immediately and runs until June 30, 2018. She will be eligible to be reappointed to an additional four-year term at that time.
