DENVER - Utah Valley's Jason Lynch and UMKC's Blake Hocking have been named the Western Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 10-16.
Lynch, a senior from Sandy, UT., competed at the Mt. SAC Relays in Torrance, California last week. He placed third in the 10,000m. His time of 29:38.75 seconds set a new UVU program record and ranks first in the conference this year. He also finished 18th in the 5,000m with a time of 14:13.50 seconds, ranking him first in the WAC and setting a new PR. Both of his times this week rank within the NCAA top-100.
Hocking, a senior from Lawrence, Kan., competed at the K.T. Woodman Classic, finishing third in the shot put (17.50m) and second in the discus (50.12m). Each of his marks this week would rank first in the WAC, but he already holds the top spot in both events.
