MISSION HILLS, Kan. - On a sunny but windy day at Indian Hills Country Club in Mission Hills, Kan., it was the local UMKC Roos who took the early lead following day one at the 2017 WAC Women's Golf Championship. The Roos carded a 23-over-par 303 to hold an five stroke lead over second-place Seattle U. Grand Canyon's Deanna Salvatori shot a two-over-oar 72 to top the individual leaderboard.

Behind UMKC and Seattle U sits tournament-favorite NM State at 29-over-par 309. CSU Bakersfield shot a 30-over-par 310 to sit in fourth, followed by Utah Valley (313), UT Rio Grande Valley (317) and Chicago State (324).

CSUB's Ariel Lee, UMKC's Cynthia Diaz and UVU's Ana Margarita Raga are all one stroke back from the lead in a tie for second. NM State's Dominique Galloway sits fifth with a 4-over-par 74.

The second round tees off at 8 a.m. CT on Thursday morning.
