DENVER - The Western Athletic Conference today announced that Carlos Rodriguez has been hired as Coordinator of Volleyball Officials.

"Carlos is highly respected and has extensive experience, both as an official and as an administrator," WAC Commissioner Jeff Hurd said. "We are delighted to have him on board and look forward to his contribution to the WAC volleyball officiating program."

Rodriguez currently serves as the coordinator of officials for three NCAA conferences - the Atlantic Sun (Division I) since 2003, the Heartland (Division II) since 2009 and the Peach Belt (Division II) since 2011. He is also the coordinator of officials for the Red River Athletic Conference, an NAIA conference, and the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XIV. Rodriguez has also served as chair of the Texas Board of Volleyball Officials since 2002. He has been part of the USA Volleyball National Rating/Training Team since 2005 and the Professional Association of Volleyball Officials National Training Team since 2007.

Rodriguez, who has been a Division I volleyball referee since 1995, joined the WAC as a referee in 1999 and has worked two WAC Tournaments.

"After serving 18 seasons as a WAC referee, I am excited to start this new chapter with WAC volleyball," Rodriguez said. "I look forward to partnering with the WAC coaches as we continue to enhance the training and development of referees."

Rodriguez replaces Alan Suzuki, who retired after serving the WAC for 18 years.
