MESA, Ariz. - On a windy day one, Seattle U battled to a 6-over-par 290 to take the early lead at the 2017 WAC Men's Golf Championship on Friday at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. SU's Kyle Cornett holds the individual lead, firing a 3-under-par 68.
The Redhawks set the pace early and will be paired up on day two with Utah Valley, who climbed to second with an 11-over-par 295. UMKC sits third with a 14-over-par 298, just one stroke ahead of NM State, who finished at 299. UT Rion Grande Valley sits fifth after shooting a 302, followed by CSU Bakersfield (322) and Chicago State (332).
Individually, Cornett holds a one-stroke lead over NM State's Mike McGilton and Grand Canyon's Hayden Webb. Utah Valley's Cedric Laverdure, UMKC's Hubert Tisserand and GCU's Vinnie Murphy are all tied for fourth after shooting an even-par 71.
