MESA, Ariz. - Seattle U held on to their day one lead on day two of the 2017 WAC Men's Golf Championship on Saturday at Longbow Golf Club in Mesa, Ariz. SU's Kyle Cornett holds a one-stroke lead on the individual leaderboard.
In the team standings, the Redhawks shot a 295 to hold off Utah Valley, who also fired a 295 to stay five strokes back in second. NM State tied with UT Rio Grande Valley for the low round on the day, with both the Aggies and the Vaqueros firing a 293. The Aggies are now tied for third with UMKC, who shot a 294, to hold a 592 after 36 holes. UTRGV is three strokes back in fifth with a 595, followed by CSU Bakersfield (623) and Chicago State (666).
On the individual leaderboard, Cornett shot a 2-over-par 73 to maintain his lead. NMSU's Mike McGilton also shot a 2-over-par 73 to stay in second but he is now tied with Grand Canyon's Vinnie Murphy, who fired an even-par 71 for the second straight day. GCU's Billy Comeaux, Jake Chanen and Hayden Webb all sit a 2-over-par in a tie for fourth.
The final round begins on Sunday at 8 a.m.
