LAS CRUCES, N.M. - In a wild back-and-forth game that lasted two and a half hours, fifth-seeded CSU Bakersfield came from behind to defeat No. 4-seed UMKC 11-10 in the first game of the WAC Tournament Thursday.
The two teams combined for 30 hits, with four doubles and three homers, including a grand slam.
After CSU Bakersfield jumped out to a 3-0 lead, UMKC then took a 10-4 lead, but the 'Runners plated seven runs in the final two innings to take the victory from the Roos.
CSU Bakersfield was led at the plate by Kaylynn Burt, who was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Chris Hipa went 3-for-5 with two RBIs in the game while Karah Wiseman and Cydney Curry both went 3-for-4.
The Roos' Morgan Byrn was 3-for-5 with a grand slam and five RBIs.
CSUB's Lyndsay Klimenko earned her fourth win of the season after pitching four innings in relief. Kendra Leach took the loss after giving up five runs in just 0.2 innings pitched.
