LAS CRUCES, N.M. - No. 3-seed Seattle U defeated second-seeded Utah Valley 8-5 in game two of the WAC Tournament Thursday.
The Redhawks belted out 12 hits in the victory, including three doubles and a two-run insurance homer by Savannah Loomis in the top of the seventh inning.
After Seattle U scored in the top of the first, Utah Valley plated three runs in the bottom of the second. The Redhawks then tied the game in the top of the third and went on to score five unanswered runs. Utah Valley plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but that was as close as the Wolverines would get.
Jessica Flanagan was 2-for-2 with one run scored and two RBIs to lead Seattle U at the plate. Cherise Silvan was also 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Basia Query led the Wolverines at the plate, going 2-for-4 one run scored and two RBIs. WAC Freshman of the Year was 1-for-4 and drove in two runs.
Andie Larkins earned the win, throwing a complete game and striking out three. She allowed five runs, four earned, and walked six.
WAC Pitcher of the Year Lauren Frailey suffered the loss, giving up six earned runs on 12 hits. She struck out one and walked two.
