LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Foruth-seeded UMKC set the WAC Tournament record for runs in a game when it eliminated No. 5-seed CSU Bakersfield with a 20-10 five-inning victory over the Roadrunners Friday.
The two teams combined for 27 hits, including two grand slams, three home runs, one triple and five doubles.
The Roos used a 12-run third inning to essentially put the game out of reach, though CSU Bakersfield made it interesting with grand slams in third and fourth innings. UMKC had five players with multi-hit games, led by Maegan Rollow, who was 3-for-4 a double, a home run and seven RBIs. Ashlin O'Brien was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and five RBIs, while Lia Lombardini was 2-for-4 with a pair of homers and four RBIs.
CSUB's Kaylynn Burt and Jo Larios each hit grand slams.
Kendra Leach earned the win in the circle for the Roos to improve to 2-5 on the season, while Summer Evans took the loss for CSUB to close the season 8-13.
