LAS CRUCES, N.M. - NM State won its third WAC Tournament title with a 10-0 six-inning win over No. 3-seed Seattle U in the second game on championship Saturday. The Aggies earn the WAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Aggies got on board quickly as Caity Szczesny hit an RBI single and WAC Tournament MVP Rachel Rodriguez drove in two more runs later in the inning on a single up the middle.
In the top of the sixth, NM State added a run when Seattle U pitcher Andie Larkins walked Kennedy Johnson with the bases loaded, scoring Jeanelle Medina. Kelsey Horton and Fahren Glackin singles added two more runs, while a Victoria Castro sacrifice fly scored one more. Nikki Butler and Medina then hit back-to-back doubles to plate two more runs to make it a 10-0 game for the final score.
Glackin earned her first win of the season in the circle for the Aggies, throwing 3.2 innings and allowing just two hits.
Larkins suffered the loss, closing the season at 12-22.
