DENVER- Utah Valley's Ashley Snyder and New Mexico State's Kayli Farmer have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for April 24-30.
Snyder, a sophomore fro Lamar, Colo., had a standout weekend at the BYU Robison Invitational. She won the 100m with a WAC-leading PR time of 11.68 second. Her time ranks second in UVU program history. She placed second in the 200m with a time of 24.24, and also helped the 4x100 team take first setting a new school record with a WAC-leading time of 45.89 seconds.
Farmer, a junior from Aztec, Ariz., won the javelin throw at the Steve Scott Invitational with a WAC-leading PR mark of 47.94 meters. Her throw ranks second all-time at NM State and is 22ndon the NCAA West qualifying list.
Other Track Nominees: NM State's Crissey Amberg placed tenth in the 1,500m at the Steve Scott Invitational… Seattle U's Lila Rice now ranks fourth in the WAC after her run in the 1,500m at the OSU High Performance Meet… UMKC's Chantel Bethune set a PR in the 200m and won the 400m at the Rock Chalk Classic with a time that ranks behind only her own previous WAC-leading finish… Grand Canyon's Anna Henry placed second and set a school record in the 3000m steeplechase with a WAC-leading PR time at the Steve Scott Invitational.
Other Field Nominees: Utah Valley's Aimee Wheeler placed first in the long jump with a PR mark at the BYU Robison Invitational… Seattle U's Mandie Maddux placed eighth in the high jump and set a new PR in the 100m hurdles at the OSU High Performance Meet… UMKC's Matia Finley placed first in the discus, second in the hammer throw, and third in the shot put at the Rock Chalk Classic… Grand Canyon's Kayla Wilson broke a school record in the long jump with a WAC-leading PR mark at the Steve Scott Invitational.
