DENVER - The 2016-17 All-WAC teams have been named following a vote of the WAC's eight head coaches. Grand Canyon's Vinnie Murphy was named WAC Player of the Year, Seattle U's Zack Overstreet was named WAC Freshman of the Year and Marc Chandonnet was named WAC Coach of the Year.
Murphy earned honors after leading the WAC in stroke average and winning the 2017 WAC Men's Golf Championship by two strokes with a 3-under-par 210. Overstreet was named WAC Freshman of the Year after help lead Seattle U to the team title at the 2017 WAC Men's Golf Championship. He posted a 73.06 stroke average in his first collegiate season and took third at the conference championship, using a 5-under-par 66 in the final round to finish with an even-par 213.
Chandonnet earns his first WAC Coach of the Year honor after guiding the Redhawks to their first WAC men's golf title. A graduate of Grand Canyon, he has headed both the men's and women's golf programs at Seattle U since 2012.
