MESA, Ariz. - Scoring seven runs in the final three innings, CSU Bakersfield extended its season at least another game with a 10-4 win over Seattle U in an elimination game on Friday morning at the 2017 WAC Baseball Tournament at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz.
The Redhawks scored first with a single run in the the bottom of the second on an Austin Lively singel that scored Sean Sutton from second. CSUB answered right back with a run in the third and added two more on a Max Carter double in the fourth to take its first lead of the game.
Seattle U tied the game up in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three runs on three hits to tie the game at 4-4 midway through the game. CSU Bakersfield retook the lead in the seventh with three runs highlighted by a two-RIB single by Mahlik Jones to score David Metzgar and Andrew Penner. Sergio Robles delivered the final dagger in the top of the ninth, hitting a three-run home run to cap a four-run inning as the 'Runners earned the win.
Garrett Nimmo earned the win for CSUB, allowing just two hits over 2.1 innings. Austin Hansen took the loss for Seattle U, allowing three runs on two hits in 1.2 innings. Naithen Dewsnap picked up the save, his 13th of the season, pitching 2.1 no-hit innings to wrap up the win.
CSU Bakersfield advances to play NM STate on Friday afternoon.
