MESA, Ariz. - The CSU Bakersfield bats came alive in the fourth inning as the 'Runners put up three runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth to build a 7-2 lead over Northern Colorado and CSUB would hold on for the win to advance to the championship game on Saturday night against Sacramento State.
The 'Runners took advantage of timely hitting and a couple Northern Colorado miscues to score three runs in the fourth for the early lead. UNC answsered back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, including Jack Pauley on balk following a failed hidden ball trick. CSUB added four more in the fifth as the 'Runner again took advantage of Bears' errors to rebuild the lead but the Bears again struck for a pair in the bottom of the frame.
Northern Colorado used a RBI single by Tyler Yamaguchi to plate Dean Lawson as the Bears pulled back within two but that would be all the offense UNC could muster as CSUB would stay alive with the 8-5 win.
Isaiah Moten earned the win for CSU Bakersfield, allowing five runs on five hits over 5.2 innings. Naithen Dewsnap earned his 14th save with a single no-hit inning. Troy Watson took the loss for Northern Colorado, allowing three runs on five hits over 4.0 innings pitched.
