INDIANAPOLIS - After winning their first WAC men's golf title, the Seattle U Redhawks won't have to travel far for their first NCAA Regional, making the trip across Lake Washington to Aldarra Golf Club in Sammamish, Wash. on May 15-17.
The Redhawks held off UMKC on the final day at Longbow Golf Club to win the trophy with a 15-over-par 867. Seattle U was led by a 1-under-par 212 from Kyle Cornett and an even-par 213 from Zach Overstreet. Following the championship, SU head coach Marc Chandonnet was named WAC Coach of the Year and Overstreet was named WAC Freshman of the Year.
Joining Seattle U in Sammamish will be top-seed USC, Kent State, Texas A&M, Florida State, Washington, Alabama, San Diego State, UTEP, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Marquette and Bryant. The top five teams and the top individual not on one of those teams will advnace tot he national championship to be played May 26-31 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Ill.
