DENVER - Dr. Horace Mitchell, Chairman of the Western Athletic Conference's Board of Directors and President of California State University, Bakersfield, today announced the contract for Commissioner Jeff Hurd has been extended through June 30, 2019.
The extension was approved at the recently completed Board of Directors meeting that was held in Denver.
Hurd, who is completing his fourth year as the WAC Commissioner, was also recently named to the NCAA Division I Competition Oversight Committee. The committee has oversight responsibility of regular season and championships administration in sports other than football and men's and women's basketball, including supervision of qualification and/or selection procedures for Division I and National Collegiate Championships. Hurd also serves on the NCAA's Playing Rules and Oversight Panel.
