TUCSON, Ariz. - A pair of WAC baseball newcomers were honored on Wednesday morning as Sacramento State right-handed pitcher Parker Brahms and Seattle U utility player Austin Lively were named Freshman All-Americans by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper.
Brahms was named WAC Freshman of the Year and a First Team All-WAC selection after leading all starting pitchers with a 2.09 ERA in league play, posting a 5-1 record in eight starts. On the season, he was 8-4 with a 3.13 ERA, two complete games and 63 strikeouts over 97 2/3 innings.
Lively hit .335 with 10 doubles, 31 RBIs and four stolen bases in 54 games for the Redhawks.
Saint Mary's utility player Kevin Milam, Texas A&M second baseman Braden Shewmake, St. John's right-handed pitcher Sean Mooney and Oregon relief pitcher Kenyon Yovan were all named Players of the Year by Collegiate Baseball.
