Roldan, Musovski Selected in MLS Superdraft

PHILADELPHIA - For the first time since 1999, the Western Athletic Conference had multiple players selected in the Major League Soccer Superdraft on Friday in Philadelphia. Seattle U's Alex Roldan was selected by Seattle Sounders FC in the first round and UNLV's Danny Musovski went a few picks later in the second round. Three more players were taken on Sunday to set a new WAC mark for most players taken in an MLS Superdraft.

Roldan was the first WAC player taken as the hometown Seatle Sounders took the Seattle U product. The midfielder joins his brother Cristian Roldan with SSFC. Roldan is also the second Redhawk in as many years to be selected by the Sounders as Kyle Bjornethun was selected by Seattle with the 88th pick in last year's draft.

Musovski went early in the second round as the San Jose Earthquakes took the 2017 WAC Offensive Player of the Year with the 30th overall pick. He is the third Rebel in four years to be drafted after Toronto FC took Sal Bernal with the 70th pick of the 2015 draft and the Colorado Rapids selected Bradley Kamdem with the 58th pick of the 2016 draft.

On Sunday, Grand Canyon's Amer Sasivarevic was the first WAC player taken as FC Dallas selected the midfielder in the third round with the 57th overall pick. UNLV's Kevin Partida was selected with the next pick by the San Jose Earthquakes where he will join Musovski. GCU's Niki Jackson was the final player taken as the Colorado Rapids selected the speedy forward in the fourth round with the 73rd overall pick.

The five players selected set a new record for WAC players taken in the MLS Superdraft. The previous record was three in 1999.
