WAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week Announced

DENVER - Kansas City's Samantha Waldron has been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 15 through Jan. 21.

Waldron, a senior guard from Omaha, Neb. (Millard West HS), led the Roos to a pair of big wins on the road to move Kansas City into a tie for third place in the WAC standings. At CSU Bakersfield, she led UMKC with 15 points, also adding six rebounds in the 60-58 win. She followed that up with 17 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 62-59 win at Grand Canyon as Kansas City improved to 3-0 on the road in conference play.

Other nominees included: CSU Bakersfield's Aja Williams averaged 13.0 ppg as the ‘Runners split a pair of games at home … Chicago State's Ines Mata Boix scored 15 points with eight rebounds in a loss at CSU Bakersfield on Saturday … Grand Canyon's Brie Mobley averaged 18.0 ppg and 9.5 rpg for the Lopes, who split home games against Chicago State and Kansas City … NM State's Gia Pack scored 25 points as the Aggies rebounded from a loss to earn an 82-72 win at Utah Valley … Seattle U's Alexis Montgomery scored 18.0 ppg with 9.0 rpg as the Redhawks won a pair of home games over NM State and UT Rio Grande Valley … UT Rio Grande Valley's Alicia McCray scored a season-high 14 points in a loss at Seattle U … Utah Valley's Mariah Seals averaged 19.5 ppg as the Wolverines split a pair at home against UT Rio Grande Valley and NM State.
