WAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MEN

Grand Canyon's Ryan Girk and Scott Marshall have been named Western Athletic Conference Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for Jan. 16-22.

Girk, a senior from Phoenix, ran a time of 6.83 in the 60-meter event at the MLK Jr. Invitational this past weekend. His time placed him in sixth out of 35 competitors and put him at the top of the WAC leaderboard for the season. Girk then went to run a 21.81 in the 200-meter dash for 12th place out of 65 competitors. He is now placed in third in the WAC for the time being.

Marshall, a senior from Tempe, Ariz., broke his own Grand Canyon school record in the pole vault event with a mark of 5.48 meters. His mark lands him in the automatic qualifying realm for the NCAA Indoor Championships if he stays in the Top-16 marks in the country. He is currently ranked seventh in the country and first in the WAC.

Other track nominee: Chicago State's Ricordo McKenzie posted a time of 6.94 in the 60-meter dash which was good enough for a second place finish against 22 competitors.

Other field nominee: Chicago State's Landis Houston recorded a season-best leap of 43-2.25 in the triple jump for a fifth-place finish.
