WAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced
DENVER – CSU Bakersfield's Autumn D'Arcy and California Baptist's Emily Dunkerson have been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 24-30.
D'Arcy, a freshman from Redlands, Calif., finished top two in four events against California Baptist. She won the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.80 which is second best in CSU Bakersfield program history. D'Arcy also won the 100 backstroke in 57.46. She led the 400 freestyle relay to a first-place finish (3:30.44) and the 200 medley relay to second (1:47.46). In the WAC, D'Arcy has the top time for the 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly, and 200 individual medley.
Dunkerson, a junior from Riverside, Calif., won three events against Pomona-Pitzer and CSU Bakersfield. In the first meet, Dunkerson won the 1-meter with a score of 279.83 and the 3-meter with 276.68. She won the 3-meter against CSU Bakersfield with 247.88 points but withdrew from the 1-meter.
Other swimmer nominees: California Baptist's Mackenzie Mergel claimed three first-place finishes and one runner-up in breastroke events.
Other diver nominee: Northern Arizona's Tatiana Kurach placed first in the 1-meter and second in the 3-meter in a dual against New Mexico.
