WAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – California Baptist's Emily Longfellow and Emily Dunkerson have been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 1-8.

Longfellow, a junior from Redlands, Calif. won five events at the PCSC Pentathlon. She finished the 100-yard butterfly in 58.31 and 100-yard backstroke in 57.74. Longfellow won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:08.30 and the 200 individual medley in 2:09.66. She finished off her event sweep with a win in the long individual medley relay (6:08.70). The Lancers won the meet by more than 250 points.

Dunkerson, a sophomore from Riverside, Calif., took first in the 1-meter and 3-meter dive at the PSCS Pentathlon. She earned 247.85 points in the 1-meter and 255.75 in the 3-meter. Dunkerson won the 1-meter dive by 8.85 points and the 3-meter by 19.35.
 
Other swimmer nominee: CSU Bakersfield's Jayssie Haynes took third (4:26.64) in the 400-yard individual medley and sixth (2:21.60) in the 200-yard breaststroke… Brigit Van Der Vegte of Grand Canyon finished in the top three in four events including first (2:05.13) in the 200-yard backstroke.
 
Other diver nominee: Grand Canyon's Menna El-Midany earned second (252.10) in the 1-meter dive and third (227.75) in the 3-meter at the TYR Fall Classic.
