WAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – California Baptist's Rebeca Oviedo and Idaho's Nikki Imanaka have been named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Nov. 13-Nov. 19.

Oviedo, a freshman from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, finished the week with three top-ten and five top-twelve swims. Her best finish was fifth in the 500 freestyle at the Mizzou Invite. She finished with a time of 4:51.91 which is second-best in school history and the top time in the WAC. She also swam a 1:49.51 in the 200 freestyle which was a new school record and best in the WAC this season. Oviedo also leads the WAC in the 1650 freestyle posting a 16:43.17 this weekend.

Imanaka, a redshirt senior from Kaneohe, Hawaii., finished in the top seven on all three dives at the Lumberjack Diving Invitational. She finished second in the 3-meter with 293.80 points in the final round and was the top WAC finisher. With 241.60 points on her second six dives, Imanaka took fifth in the 1-meter. She also earned seventh on the platform dive.

Other swimmer nominees: Grand Canyon's Marina McInelly recorded the best times in the WAC in the 100 and 200 breaststroke… Leah Fisk of Idaho won two events and took runner-up in the third against Wyoming… NM State's Hanna McGowan won two individual events and helped two relays to first-place finishes… Elisa Rodriguez of Northern Arizona set a program record in the 50 freestyle recording a 22.91…  Northern Colorado's Maddy Moore played a part in four new schools records and won the 50 freestyle in a time of 22.86.
 
Other diver nominees:
 California Baptist's Savannah Uhlir faced difficult competition at the Mizzou Invite finishing best at 31st… Sheridan Decker of NM State placed third and fourth in the platform and 3-meter dives at the Lumberjack Invitational.
