WAC Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week Announced

DENVER – Northern Colorado's Rose Saya and Northern Arizona's Christina Torrente have been named Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for Oct. 29-Nov. 5.

Saya, a freshman from Denver, Colo., helped Northern Colorado to their fifth straight win defeating Air Force and Grand Canyon. Saya won all three events she participated in. She won the 200 freestyle (1:54.34) and the 100 freestyle (52.86) while also competing in the first-place 200 freestyle relay. In the WAC, she is currently fourth best in the 200 freestyle.

Torrente, a senior from Redmond, Wash., took first place in both dives against Idaho. She scored a career-best 342.25 on the 3-meter which ranks as the second-highest score in Northern Arizona history. She won the 1-meter with a score of 315.37.

Other swimmer nominee: CSU Bakersfield's Jayssie Haynes won three individual events and competed in a first-place relay as she led the 'Runners to a win over Pepperdine… Roaia Mashaly of Grand Canyon won two individual events and a relay against Air Force and Northern Colorado.
 
Other diver nominee:
 Grand Canyon's Menna El-Midany qualified for NCAA Zones and took first both days in the 1-meter against Northern Colorado.
