NM STATE'S GLACKIN, GREEN NAMED WAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

NM State's Fahren Glackin and Kayla Green have been named the Western Athletic Conference Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for Feb. 5-11. This is the first-ever honor for Glackin and the fourth honor for Green.

Glackin, a senior first baseman from Honolulu, played an imperative role in the Aggies' 2-1 record against No. 17 Kentucky to open the season, batting .800 with a hit in each game of the series and reaching base multiple times in each game. She also posted an .800 slugging percentage and a .917 on-base percentage. Glackin recorded four runs and four hits for NM State and drove in one run in each of the victories. She walked four times over the course of the series and was hit by a pitch three times.

Green, a junior right-hander from Tucson, Ariz., opened the 2018 campaign with a pair of wins over No. 17 Kentucky. She posted a 1.91 ERA, only allowing a single earned run in each of her appearances and walking just one batter. In the season opener, Green led her team to its first win over a ranked opponent since 2015 by pitching 4.0 innings while allowing only four hits and striking out a pair of Wildcat batters. She followed it up by pitching 3.1 innings in relief where she allowed just three hits, earning her second win of the season.

Other Hitter of the Week nominees included: CSU Bakersfield's Paige Johnson hit .375 with four RBIs ... Sierra Smith of Grand Canyon hit .400 with one home run and six RBIs ... Seattle U's Madison Cathcart hit .412 with two doubles, four home runs and seven RBIs on the week ... Basia Query of Utah Valley hit .467 with three doubles on the week.

Other Pitcher of the Week nominees included: CSU Bakersfield's Kaycee Olson went 0-1 with a 1.70 ERA and six strikeouts ... Alexa Coons of Grand Canyon went 1-0 with 11 strikeouts in two appearances ... Utah Valley's Addie Jensen went 1-2 with a 2.26 ERA and nine strikeouts.

AGGIES EARN FIRST WIN OVER RANKED TEAM SINCE 2015 SEASON
NM State took down No. 17 Kentucky in the team's first two games of the season. It was the first time the Aggies have beaten a ranked opponent since April 6, 2015 when the team took down No. 19 Arizona State 6-4. NM State also took down the first ranked opponent it faced that season, as it beat No. 18 Nebraska 16-11 on Feb 6, just the third contest of the season for the Aggies in 2015.

UVU HURLER JENSEN TAKES NO-HITTER INTO SIXTH INNING
Utah Valley newcomer Addie Jensen took a no-hit bid into the sixth inning against reigning NCAA Tournament team North Dakota State on Feb. 11. Jensen ended up being the tough-luck loser in an epic pitcher's duel, as she allowed just three hits and no earned runs in 8.1 innings of work against the Bison. She also struck out three and walked just one, and the lone two runs that were scored off of her came in unearned via the international tiebreaker rule. The 8.1-inning outing was Utah Valley's longest since former Wolverine great Bailey Moore went 7.2 against Kansas City on April 15, 2016.

SEATTLE U PLAYS TWO EXTRA-INNING GAMES IN SAME DAY
On Feb. 10, Seattle U won two marathon extra-inning outings against CSUN and Central Michigan. Susanne Morris hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the eighth to lift Seattle U to a 6-4 win over CSUN. Then, in a nearly four hour, 10-inning contest, the Redhawks rallied past Western Michigan, 11-8. SU came back from a 7-3 deficit to win a game that ended after midnight local time. The 3-2 start is Seattle U's best opening weekend since 2013.

GCU'S SIERRA SMITH HITS FIRST HOMER IN GCU SOFTBALL STADIUM
Grand Canyon junior Sierra Smith hit a grand slam in the second game of a doubleheader against Montana on Feb. 8. It was the first home run in the newly renovated GCU Softball Stadium and gave the Lopes the sweep over the Grizzlies.
